NO MO' TREE

Wanted to show the progress @ 6th & Orange. The tree is gone but it will be replaced with a wonderful new home & new neighbors to go with it. I know it's sad to see a beautiful tree gone but remember everything changes & yes, change can be good.

August Boosters meeting

I am trying to get the news letter out a bit early this month so everyone has a chance to participate @ the Boosters Ball Park Picnic, so be looking for it in the mail the latter part of next week. I am very excited to tell you that our Alderman Maurice Taylor is going to be our Speaker @ our August meeting. Also, that is when you can pick up your bracelets for the Ball Park Picnic!
Feel free to spread the word about the Ball Park & pray for good weather!!! And come out & hear Mr.Taylor speak to our neighborhood!

Maple street house

Someone graciously pointed out to me that some comments that I thought would make a funny story may have been insensitive. If anyone, especially the homeowner in question, was offended I want to extend an sincere apology. I never meant to harm or embarrass anyone & for that I am truly sorry. I thought the events humorous as I have a family that has been the brunt of many jokes but have to realize that what one person sees as humor another may not. In the future I will try to be more sensitive to my neighbors feelings.

From Officer Tommy Norman withe NLR Police Dept.

Tommy writes:

The 3rd annual NLRPD backpack/tennis shoe event will be held on Saturday, August 14th, 10am, at Shoe Carnival in Lakewood Village.  50 NLR children will receive a backpack full of school supplies, along with a $50.00 Shoe Carnival gift card to purchase a pair of shoes for back to school.  There is an account ( "NLRPD back to school account " ) open at Centennial Bank.  Donations of any type of school supplies would be beneficial for this event.  Also, as many as 10 officers are needed for this event.  Officers would assist a child in choosing a pair of shoes, which would take 30 minutes.  Safelite Auto Glass will be grilling hot dogs at the event, and providing drinks as well.  The event last year was lots of fun!  Please email me, or call me at 580-6959, if you are interested in donating school supplies or shopping with a child.  Thank You.

Officer Norman

As a NLR School Board member, I can assure you there are many kids in our schools who need these types of programs to succeed in school.  If you and group’s members can help with this program, you can make real difference in a child’s life.

You & your fellow neighbors will meet for all you can eat hot dogs & burgers in the Baggage Picnic area, then we have reserved seating on the 3rd base for the whole group!
The kids will get a chance @ meeting a ball player as they exit the locker room, I have  it from a higher authority that the players will even give out autographs. So bring the family or just yourself & come out for some fun.
The tickets are $13.50 each & you can pay Scott Miller, Eric Francis or myself. I need a head count by July 28th so please spread the word to everyone you know. My phone number is 376-1127 if you have any questions or email me.
In the event of rain they will still have the picnic in a safe area & give us baseball tickets for another night.

upcoming events

Hi Guys- hope everyone had a great Independence Day holiday & is refreshed. I wanted to pass along some some changes to the Boosters program this year & possible upcoming events.
Boosters has had a bit of a financial set back this year & is unable to fund certain events. Now I know what you are asking, "OK, how does this effect me?", well, I am glad you asked! How this effects everyone is the ability to have a block party. Here are some things we are looking at in it's place:
1) Having a night out at the Ball Park. We can do an "all you can eat" picnic, which includes your ticket, for about $13.50 each. We need 20 or more folks to participate. You would be responsible for the price of your ticket.
2) Have a BIG neighborhood wide Yard Sale this Fall followed by a cook out. Probably in October.
3) An Argenta Flotilla has also been suggested for an up coming Saturday, or a week day if everyone can get off from work. This would be an all day event to the Caddo River in Arkadelphia. You would need to bring a floating device & your refreshments. If it takes place on a Saturday then you can rent a tube at the river.
Let me know your thoughts.
I know there are problems with being able to respond to the blog entry's (an issue we are working on) so please email me @:

Sorry I am late with this message from Scott Miller

On this 4th of July weekend commemorating the founding of Country, it is a good time to remember the sacrifices so many have made to preserve and protect our Country.  A group in Amboy is erecting a statue and monument on the corner of Military and MacArthur Drives.  Hundreds of thousands of servicemen have passed by this intersection for decades on their way to Camp Robinson.  A non-profit has been set up with the AR Secretary of State and an account has been set up at Centennial Bank.  All contributions are tax deductible.

You can support this very worthy cause by buying a brick for the monument engraved with your personal message for as little as $50 or by buying a engraved message on the granite statue pedestal for $500.  A sketch of the monument is attached as well as the brick donation form and more information about the monument is attached for your review.

Please consider forwarding this to your membership and enjoy your long 4th of July  weekend.
