Freezer chest

The NLR Salvation Army Food Pantry is in need of a working Freezer chest, preferably large, if anyone has one they could donate. It doesn't have to be pretty just in working condition.
Remember sometimes it is easier to give than to sell, and the tax write off won't hurt either!
If you have a freezer chest you can part with please feel free to contact Salvation Army Food Pantry on 18th st in NLR @ 758-7297.
Let then know that Boosters sent you.

Chili Supper & Food Drive

Wanted to thank everyone that particpated in Boosters Potluck & Salvation Army FOod Drive last Thursday. We had a pretty good turn out & some generous donations to the Salvation Army. All in all I would call it a success. There is even talk of making this a yearly occurance during the Block Party!
I want to send a special thank you to the folks @ First PResbyterian Church & their paster Anne Russ. You guys helped so much in making this all come together, thank you, thank you! And the deserts were wonderful!
Looking forward to next year a blowout Block Party!
Thanks again for everyone's help!

Dogtown Cookery

After hearing much local talk and then seeing the spot on Pam's Picks on channel 7 news, we had lunch at the new Dogtown Cookery on JFK. We wandered in with a large group following a "Sandwich Tour" by the History Commission so we had a bit of a wait to order.
Upon receiving our order, the first person in our group had the BLT, which she enjoyed. Bob had the Meatloaf sandwich and it was a hit, I will definitely be getting this next time. I had the Southern Revival Salad w/ Sorghum Vinaigrette, very nice!
We of course had the cheese dip as it has gotten much press, they won the recent "Best Cheese Dip" at a local Cheese Dip competition.  The first bite was wonderful but with each additional bite it began to lose it's thrill as it was overpowered by the very salty thick chips. If I had any request it would be to change the chips to something lighter so you can truly appreciate the flavor instead of being overpowered by salt.
In addition to lunch, they serve all your favorite varieties of coffee and specialize in unusual ice cream flavors, such as Jalapeno. Unfortunately we were too full to partake of the ice cream, but there is always tomorrow!
I would highly recommend the Dogtown Eatery and plan on returning soon, however, I may bring my own chips if I order the cheese dip.

Argenta Market

The hub & I recently shared a lunch at Argenta Market and I wanted to let my neighbors know much we enjoyed it. Bob & I shared hot Pastrami on Rye with homemade potato chips. I haven't had Pastrami like this, in central Arkansas, since Louis's Delicatessen in the old Park Plaza. Those of you who remember Louis's know what I am talking about!
We also shared a cup of squash soup & the loaded potato salad. OMG! Talk about pure pleasure for you taste buds, that potato salad was the bomb! I can't tell you when I enjoyed a meal out as much as this, everything was an experience.
If you haven't been to the market for their lunch or prepared dinner items I want to encourage you to venture out & explore this wonderful food source. As for me, I will be eating there a lot more often, I have potato salad & hot Pastrami on the brain...........Yum!

P.S. This is an independent review & was not solicited by anyone involved with the market, even though I love those guys!
